Where can I rent tools?

I am planning on sanding my guest room floors and building a shed. I used to build a lot of things when I lived near my parents and could borrow my dad’s tools, but now I have a house with my girlfriend in the sunset area of San Francisco, which is far away. Can I rent tools from Home Depot? i dont want to buy all of these tools because my wife wants me to stay green. She knows I don’t have time to build anything once I start my job after this project. So I really just need to borrow it.
